"I try to be as genuine as I can. I want to be known as someone that worked really hard, that had a dream, that didn't give up, and is now able to inspire others."

In this episode of Diferente podcast, we discuss the impact of latinx culture in the media with my favorite California girl, Natasha Martinez!

She's also one of my favorite latinx influencers to keep up with on Instagram because she's so genuinely happy in her photos and they make me smile, her energy is contagious!

We talk lessons in confidence, being a feminist, and the importance of believing in yourself. Natasha also shares her experience as being Miss California, and the expectations of Latinas in media; how she's trained her emotional muscles to deal with trolls, haters and other life challenges.

EPISODE RECAP

"It's not fair to say, do whatever you want to do to make yourself feel confident, yet you put down other women for choosing something that maybe they feel passionate about...."

  • Don't be afraid to quit something that is not making you happy, because it's the only way you can make room for something better!

  • There are already a ton of uneducated opinions floating around the internet, so if you're going to speak out, make sure you do your homework and you educate yourself on other points of view. It is important to let your passion shine through in your opinions, but don't get caught up just reiterating ideas.

  • You don't have to have everything figured out now, everything's a work in progress. Even if you had your dream job, you still have to work to keep it or to elevate.

  • Don't give up! It took Natasha four tries to get that Miss California crown.
